There are 13 priority cacti species in the North West of New South Wales. Hudson pear (Cylindropunti pallida) is one of these species. It has invaded over 100,000 hectares in Lightning Ridge and surrounding areas.

We would like to understand what motivates and what prevents people from doing activities that can stop the spread of cacti through the north west region of New South Wales (NSW) and beyond. The survey will help us understand what it is travellers need help with when travelling through cactus infested areas but it will us identify what behaviours travellers are willing to do, to help stop the spread of invasive cacti through the North West and bordering regions and states of NSW.

For more information on invasive cactus in the North West region of NSW check out the 'Invasive Cacti Field Guide: Identification and control of invasive cacti, North West NSW'.

Releasing the Hounds on Hudson pear - a Community Biological control management program, funded through the NSW Government Office for Environment and Heritage.
